This past week marked a significant milestone for the Portuguese coating industry as the first-ever FROSIO Paint Inspector class conducted entirely in the Portuguese language took place in Lisbon, Portugal.
As a worldwide provider of inspection services and associated training, Paint-Inspector.Com (PIC) focused its efforts on making global certification more accessible in the local context. With a growing demand for skilled professionals in the field of corrosion protection and coating inspection, this marks a significant step for the industry.
FROSIO, an internationally recognised certification scheme
FROSIO is a certification body set apart by its experience-based levelling system and accreditation according to ISO17024. Its mission is to provide assurance of competency and quality in coating and insulation inspection, and its ISO17024 accreditation ensures its conducting certification according to the highest international standard.
However, until now, aspiring inspectors in Portuguese-speaking countries faced a language barrier. While the examination could be done in multiple languages, the training itself is primarily conducted in English. This is why the PIC team dedicated its efforts to removing the language barrier to certification.

A successful round of training in Lisbon
PIC has continuously worked on creating the most convenient certification experience, from an interactive course geared towards intuitive learning to just 4 days spent in the classroom.
The course covers a comprehensive range of topics, including surface preparation, coating application, inspection techniques, and standards compliance. In the classroom, the participants had the opportunity to delve deep into the intricacies of coating inspection in their native tongue.
