A monitor used to collect samples for subsequent laboratory analysis of PM 10 (particulate matter
less than 10 microns in diameter), TSP (total suspended particulate), or lead. Monitoring for PM
10 is addressed in 40 CFR 50, Appendix J, “Reference Method for the Determination of
Particulate Matter as PM 10 in the Atmosphere.” Monitoring for TSP is addressed in 40 CFR 50,
Appendix B, “Reference Method for Determination of Suspended Particulate Matter in the
Atmosphere (High-Volume Method).” Lead is analyzed from the TSP filters in accordance with
40 CFR 50, Appendix G, “Reference Method for the Determination of Lead in Suspended
Particulate Matter Collected From Ambient Air.”
